Gentry Bronson

About

Gentry Bronson is a San Francisco singer-songwriter, pianist, storyteller, producer and showman known for his moving ballads, cinematic epics and soaring indie rock songs.

Known by many as the "barefoot surfer pianist", he has enchanted audiences throughout the U.S. & Europe. His discography boasts over 80 original songs and 10 records, including an English adaptation of the Dutch classic Avond. A new record titled Within A Sigh and A Curse will be released in 2012, and he will embark on a 6th European tour in February.

Born in a small Minnesota town and named by his parents after a hitchhiker, Gentry won early praise as a classical pianist, winning 5 MMTA awards and performing in front of thousands of people early in his life. He was a punk poet in Seattle and a club DJ in Prague before settling in San Francisco, where he received his BA in Humanities, became a multi-media producer and won 3 NCSA songwriting awards.

Gentry is now often compared to David Gray, Ben Folds, Tom Waits and Ludovico Einaudi with music in the indie, rock, americana, blues, ambient, cabaret and new classical genres. He is a highly charged, passionate performer, and in 2011, he completed his Lost & Found European Tour, then performed concerts on the same bill with Big Brother & The Holding Company (Janis Joplin's band), It's A Beautiful Day, Barry "The Fish" Melton" (of Country Joe & The Fish), Commander Cody, and the Manzarek Rogers Band (featuring Ray Manzarek of The Doors).
