Recorded in July and August 2006 at PopSmear Studios in San Rafael, California and independently released in February 2007, this is what Gentry says about the record:

"When I wrote the songs for 'No War', I started with darker concepts, and as I continued writing, my outlook and songwriting became more positive.  I was really being inspired by British Indie bands, along with some of the great theatric songwriters: Nick Cave, Peter Gabriel, Tom Waits & Bono.  It was really about energy.

At the time, The United States was in the middle of the George Bush administration and I could not have felt more like I was living in a Fascist Theocracy, which I was.  Then, I realized that I was using these huge, non-pop song themes in the songs, which were obviously being influenced by the world spinning around me.  Violence & war, spiritual crisis, struggle, and I knew I had a concept to write toward.

Preposterously, I wanted to make a concept record, and I was thinking theatricly, too, as in rock opera.  Yup, totally insane.  Ha ha!  As I got toward writing the final songs, it became more about relationships and struggles with them.  More interpersonal.  Schizophrenic, I know.  But fun, fun fun.

All along the way,  I knew where I wanted to go.  In the end, I wanted to make a big, huge alterna-rock pop record with the piano as the central instrument.  To satisfy my theatric needs, made it into a trilogy or musical in 3 acts.  It was a hard record to make, but also loads of fun.  That's how it usually goes.

As I get older, I get more positive and influenced by the musicians and producers I'm working with to drive my songs home.  That's the next record will be about.  That, and a lot of Americana, cowboys, beaches, pirates & the ocean.  For now, please enjoy NO WAR.

Credit and thanks goes to the musicians that helped me make this record.

Alex Aspinall played drums and made sure everything was absolutely rock solid.
Adam Harrison played electric fretless bass and kept me on my toes.
Scott Llamas played electric and acoustic guitars and sang back-up vocals.  He also engineered the record, co-produced it with me, and saved the day many times.
Brett Fenex guest starred on electric guitar, sang back-up vocals on a song, and brought huge positivity to the project.

Thanks again, Alex, Adam, Scott & Brett."
